Dallas is home to Dr. Fields, who grew up in Richardson, Texas. Her attraction to medicine began at a young age with interest in science classes and inspiration from her mentor, who happened to be an Ob/Gyn. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University with a major in Biomedical Science and was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta and Order of Omega honor societies. Wondering what medicine was like in the "real world," Dr. Fields worked for the next year as a Medical Assistant in a women-centered Internal Medicine practice in Austin. Here, she gained insight into office gynecology and discovered her passion for women's health through her first hand experience.
Dr. Fields attended medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. While there, she served as Vice President of the American Medical Women's Association and worked with the school's chapter of the Texas Medical Association to start the first annual Powder Puff football game, a fundraiser that has become a fast-growing tradition. Dr. Fields' proudest moment of medical school was her induction into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for demonstrating excellence in clinical care, leadership, compassion and dedication to service. This honor society is part of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, whose mission is to uphold the tradition of the caring doctor by stressing the importance of the doctor-patient relationship.
Returning to Dallas in search of a residency program with a reputation for cutting edge research and evidence-based medicine, as well as a vast amount of hands-on experience, Dr. Fields chose to train at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Parkland Hospital, its principal teaching hospital, is home to nearly 17,000 obstetric deliveries per year, with over one-third of those being high risk patients. While training at Parkland, she received the Chairman's Award for Outstanding Intern in 2006, and served as Administrative Chief Resident from 2008 to 2009. As one of the chief residents, Dr. Fields found it an honor to represent her peers as she helped make complicated schedules for the largest Ob/Gyn residency program in the nation, mediated conflicts between residents, and served as a role model for younger residents and medical students.
Seeking a private practice group in Dallas that valued patient-centered care, continuing education, and humanism in medicine, Dr. Fields joined Dr. Brothers and Dr. Crochet in August 2009. She is particularly interested in high risk obstetrics, minimally invasive gynecologic procedures and laparoscopic surgery, as well as adolescent and young adult medicine. She is looking forward to developing lifelong relationships with her patients by practicing educational, honest, and compassionate medicine.
Dr. Fields lives in Lakewood with her husband of six years, Eric Walker, a commercial litigation attorney at White & Wiggins. They welcomed a new baby girl in February 2012 - Finley, and have two other "kids" - Chloe (a Chihuahua/terrier mix) and Valentine the cat. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, scuba diving, travel, zumba and pretending to be a good cook.
